Select the 'IP Printer' button in the top row just beneath the close, minimize and maximize controls. For the 'Protocol' pulldown, select 'Line Printer Daemon - LPD'. Type in the IP address of your printer in the 'Address:' field. You can leave the 'Queue' field blank.

Give the printer a meaningful name in the 'Name' field, such as 'Color Laser'. If you live in a mansion, you might want to put a location in;-).

On a Windows computer, no problem, but on OSX 10.4.6 I have gotten nowhere. The drivers installed, but printer setup apparently did not. I chose IPP, and AutoIP as I did on the Windows computer. I input Dell and it brought up the 3100cn which I selected.
